The first virtue necessary for achieving a satisfactory performance in your daily routine, is the virtue of faith. Even a vowed atheist needs to exercise some kind of faith, whether it be in himself, or in other people or in some objects or situation in which he trusts for his desired fulfillment. After all, every man is inadequate to help himself in all his needs and wants. He needs the assistance and cooperation of others in a number of ways. He therefore has no choice but believe or trusts that his desires and needs will be fulfilled as well as can be expected. In proportion as you doubt either yourself or others you will be burdened with insecurity and troubled by anxiety. The weaker your faith in the real facts of your personal situation, the harder you will find it to maintain yourself possession. May the topics dealt in this book strengthen your faith and keep you well disposed. - Fr. Camillus, SDB (Salesian Provincial, Chennai)
